Arriving Soon: What to Expect at BDL This Fall
As we prepare to wrap up a busy summer of air travel, The Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) is looking ahead to the fall season and what travelers can expect at Bradley International Airport (BDL) when it comes to new nonstop routes, expanded airline service, concession upgrades, and more.
Arrival of Avelo Airlines
Avelo Airlines will soon become the twelfth airline to operate at BDL. Starting in November, Avelo will launch a total of seven new, nonstop routes to the following destinations:
- Nov. 7: Wilmington, NC and Charlotte/Concord, NC
- Nov. 8: Orlando/Lakeland, FL and Daytona Beach, FL
- Nov. 15: Houston, TX
- Nov. 16: Montego Bay, Jamaica
- Nov. 20: Cancun, Mexico
With Avelo’s arrival at BDL, the airport is now home to four ultra-low cost carriers.
More flights to Florida
Starting in November, JetBlue will add an additional daily flight to the following destinations from BDL:
- Orlando
- Tampa
- West Palm Beach
- Fort Myers
- Fort Lauderdale
The increase in frequency means an additional 35 flights on JetBlue to Florida every week and is expected to continue through the winter months.
This strengthens the airport’s access to Florida, which now includes 11 cities on seven airlines.
Concierge service brings added convenience
BDL, in partnership with Travelers Aid International, has launched a new concierge service for departing and arriving passengers who are traveling for business or leisure. Once a booking is made, a concierge team member will meet and greet the passenger(s) upon their arrival at the airport and assist in the following areas:
- Checking in at the airline ticket counter
- Going through the TSA security checkpoint via priority access
- Accompanying the passenger(s) directly to their gate
- Delivering food directly to the gate through BDL Market
- Retrieving checked bags
- Assisting to/from parking, pick up, or car rental
The concierge service is ideal for older adults who may be traveling alone and need assistance, families with children, first-time fliers, anyone with special travel needs, and individuals looking for an elevated or personalized travel experience.
Advanced reservations required. For additional information about pricing, services offered, or to make a reservation, visit www.bradleyairport.com/concierge
Newly improved concessions
Shopping and dining upgrades continue at BDL to help enhance the travel experience – creating a more modern and welcoming feel inside the terminal and a sense of place to better reflect Connecticut and New England.
Cask and Barrel Bistro, which is operated by Michell Enterprises LLC, just underwent a complete remodel and opened under the name Sam Adams. This is the only sit-down restaurant located prior to the TSA security checkpoint. Additionally, our concessionaire partner, Paradies Lagardère, remodeled and recently reopened the former CNBC store as a new retail concept called CT River Landing, which showcases a vast array of travel necessities, such as snacks, souvenirs, and more.
Construction continues to build a better Bradley
The CAA continues to put a major focus on the modernization of facilities and customer service enhancements at BDL. A tremendous amount of progress has been made on two major construction projects that are currently underway and slated for completion at the end of 2025.
- Inline baggage screening building: Located directly behind the Sheraton Hotel at BDL, this 80,000-square-foot facility will house the airport’s explosive-detection machines. Checked baggage will be sent directly from the airline ticket counters along a mile-long conveyor belt to the new facility for screening. Additionally, the project will also create new gate space for our airline partners.
- Vertical circulation project: Two new corridors are being constructed on both sides of the main terminal, which will give deplaning passengers in both of BDL’s concourses a faster and more direct route to baggage claim, parking shuttles, rental cars and public transportation.
Bradley International Airport (BDL) invites you to love the journey at New England's second-largest airport.
