CAA Hosts Successful Open Houses at GA Airports
The General Aviation airport FBOs and other airport stakeholders recently partnered with the CAA to organize three successful, annual airport open houses.
The open houses were held at Windham Airport (in September), at Groton New London Airport (in August) and at Danielson Airport (in June).
In total, nearly 1,800 individuals visited and enjoyed a myriad exciting, aviation activities and the opportunity to get to know their local airport.
Activities varied at each airport, and included free Young Eagles introductory rides in an airplane for youth, information about drone flight safety, scenic aerial rides, aircraft displays, information about careers in civilian and military aviation, aviation-related membership organizations, local food vendors, skydiving and glider demonstrations, and more!
Scores of volunteers assisted, including U.S. Naval Submarine Base New London Sailors at Groton New London Airport.
The Connecticut Airport Authority extends its grateful thanks to everyone who helped make the open houses a success, in particular the many community partners, exhibitors and volunteers.
A special thanks to the following organizations: 82 Bravo (FBO at LZD), Town of Killingly, Killingly Business Association, H.H. Ellis Technical High School of the CT State Department of Education, Mystic Jet Center (FBO at GON), Town of Groton and Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, Windham Air Services (FBO at IJD), Town of Windham and Windham Region Chamber of Commerce.
