AOPA Fly-In Event at Groton-New London Airport

Groton-New London Airport will be hosting one of this year’s four national Fly-In events hosted by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. The event will be held on October 6 and 7, and is expected to attract about 5000 attendees and 500-600 planes.

The Fly-In will be free to attend, with target attendees living within 500-700 miles of the airport. The event will be beneficial to area hotels and other businesses, and will offer pilots, their families, and general aviation enthusiasts the opportunity explore everything the region has to offer, including area attractions like Mystic Seaport, the casinos, and the Submarine Force Museum.

The AOPA states that fly-in locations are selected based on location, airport capacity and the relationship between the aviation community, the airport and the businesses at the airfield. That Groton-New London Airport was selected speaks volumes about the facilities the airport has to offer and the amenities of the area.
