Bradley International Airport Wins Industry Recognition

May 12, 2026

Bradley International Airport (BDL) has been honored with a major industry award for its Inline Baggage Screening Facility, a project that has reshaped both airport operations and the passenger experience.

Completed in early 2026, the $250 million project at BDL represents one of the most significant infrastructure upgrades in the airport’s history. Developed in partnership with the Transportation Security Administration, the facility replaced lobby-based baggage screening with a fully integrated Checked Baggage Inspection System.

Relocating TSA checked bag screening operations out of the ticketing lobby has significantly reduced congestion, improved passenger flow, and freed up valuable terminal space. The new system also streamlines baggage handling behind the scenes, improving efficiency for both TSA and airline partners.

In addition to security and operational upgrades, the project includes a new concourse with three new gates, expanded seating, upcoming dining and retail options, and improved passenger amenities. These additions support long-term airline growth while elevating the overall travel experience.
