CAA Deputy Executive Director of Finance, Business Development, Planning, & Engineering Honored with 2024 C-Suite Award
The Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) would like to congratulate Michael (Mike) Shea, Deputy Executive Director of Finance, Business Development, Planning and Engineering, for being named as one of the recipients of the Hartford Business Journal’s 2024 C-Suite Award. The award recognizes executives who have made significant contributions to the success of their organization.
As a senior leader at the CAA, he has played a pivotal role in driving growth at Bradley International Airport (BDL) over the last decade through strong fiscal management and strategic planning. He has been instrumental in spearheading airline agreements and introducing BDL’s first ultra-low-cost carriers to our market. He also played a key role in re-establishing nonstop transatlantic and transcontinental airline routes, ultimately helping to grow BDL’s nonstop flights from 29 to more than 45 destinations on 12 different airlines.
Mike also secured funding and oversaw planning and design for large construction projects at BDL. The first was for the $210 million ground transportation center, which opened in July 2022. Additionally, Mike secured $243 million in federal and CAA funding for an ongoing capital improvement program currently underway that will greatly enhance the flow and functionality of BDL’s main terminal for travelers.
Mike has more than 25 years of experience in finance and accounting. Before joining the CAA, Mike held high-level accounting roles in real estate and insurance. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Boston College and a Master’s in Professional Accounting from the University of Hartford.
