Journey Series: 5 Ways Bradley Airport is Using Tech to Improve Your Travel

Travel is all about connection—so shouldn’t your airport experience also help you to connect? At Bradley International Airport, we think so—and we are working hard on tech upgrades to make your airport experience comfortable and connected. Here are 5 recent technology upgrades…

1. A WiFi Upgrade: Stream with Speed!

Yes, you read that right! Bradley is upgrading the WiFi in the terminal. We’ve added capacity and bandwidth— quadrupling the number of access points in the airport. Say hello to faster speed and a more reliable connection!

2. Common Use Terminal Equipment

We have started implementing Common Use Terminal Equipment – or CUTE in short –  which is a system that allows multiple airlines to share a ticket counter or gate. The good news? You can expect shorter wait times, better passenger flows, and more flexibility.

3. Arrivals, Departures, and Other Important Info

Recently, we’ve implemented HD flat panels to better display arrival and departure information. Plans are underway to upgrade outdoor signage and introduce digital signage in the future, so you can get the info you need at an easy glance.

4. Flight Updates on our Website or on Twitter

Passengers can check flybdl.org for the latest information about their flight to or from BDL, or use a special Twitter service @BDLFlightInfo to receive info and updates about flights in real time.

5. Ready, Set, Charge!

Over the last few years, we’ve doubled the number of charging stations in the terminal. Now, those stations often include seating or tables for a more comfortable, connected experience!
